BREAKING: Florida State University Issues Shelter-in-Place Order Amid Active Shooter Situation

Police responded swiftly to an active shooter situation on Florida State University’s Tallahassee campus Thursday afternoon, with reports confirming that a suspect has been apprehended.

At approximately 12:40 p.m. ET, FSU issued an emergency alert warning students and staff to shelter in place as law enforcement responded near the campus Student Union. Witnesses and early footage shared on social media showed officers in tactical gear converging on the area near Tennessee Street and Woodward Avenue.

One widely circulated video appears to show the moment the alleged shooter was taken into custody, with law enforcement escorting the individual away from the scene.

The FBI has confirmed it is assisting local authorities in the investigation, according to ABC News.

Students were urged to remain sheltered in place while authorities completed a full sweep of the area. No details on casualties or the suspect’s identity have been officially released at this time.
