Mysterious Death Rocks LA as Anti-ICE Riots Spiral Into Violence and Looting
The streets of Los Angeles turned into a war zone Monday night as anti-ICE protests devolved into chaos, looting, and now — a death.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, LAPD officers responded to a chilling scene: a man lying lifeless on the sidewalk near the corner of West 3rd Street and Broadway, just feet from a T-Mobile store that had been ransacked moments earlier by violent rioters.
Video posted online shows the man wearing a red sweatshirt, face-up and motionless, as investigators surrounded the body and erected a canopy to shield the scene from public view. Police have not released the man’s identity or confirmed a cause of death.
The T-Mobile location at 259 S. Broadway was one of many storefronts looted during Monday’s surge of violence, marking the fifth consecutive night of lawlessness tied to the anti-ICE uprising that began on June 6 after federal agents conducted high-profile immigration raids in the Los Angeles area.
Authorities are still investigating whether the man’s death is directly connected to the riot activity, but the location and timing have raised serious questions.
The city is in crisis mode, with over 150 rioters arrested, five LAPD officers, and six California Highway Patrol officers injured in the spiraling unrest. In response, President Donald Trump has ordered 4,000 National Guard troops and nearly 700 Marines to the city in an attempt to restore order.
ICE officials report 118 arrests so far, even as resistance grows fiercer and more violent.
As the situation deteriorates, this unexplained death on the sidewalk may be just the beginning of a much darker chapter in what is already being described as one of the most dangerous urban uprisings since 2020.
