Democrats Face Heat for Snubbing Trump’s Congressional Address Lawmakers Grilled Over Refusal to Applaud Key Moments

Earlier this week, Democratic lawmakers found themselves cornered over their icy reception to President Trump’s address to Congress, with Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) delivering a response that raised eyebrows and fueled controversy.

According to The Gateway Pundit, the Democrats’ behavior during Tuesday’s speech was marked by disruption and disdain. They notably refused to stand for the mothers of Laken Riley and Jocelyn Nungaray, two victims brutally killed by illegal immigrants, drawing sharp criticism for their apparent lack of empathy. The froideur continued when Trump honored a 13-year-old brain cancer survivor, naming them an honorary Secret Service member. While Republicans erupted in applause, many Democrats stayed seated, their silence stark against the chamber’s enthusiasm.

On Wednesday, “Jesse Watters Primetime” producer Johnny Belisario took to Capitol Hill, determined to get answers from the stone-faced lawmakers about their refusal to clap during these emotional highlights. His first stop was Senator Warren, whom he pressed about what it would take for her to show some support during the address.

Warren’s reply was telling—and selective. “I did clap when he mentioned the United States supporting Ukraine with substantial funding,” she said, sidestepping any explanation for why she withheld applause for Laken Riley’s grieving mother, whose daughter’s murder has become a flashpoint in immigration debates.

Belisario didn’t stop there. He tracked down an irate Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), who pivoted to attack Trump for failing to tackle soaring grocery prices—conveniently glossing over the economic fallout from policies under the Biden administration. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), meanwhile, opted for deflection, feigning ignorance with a curt, “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” when asked about her demeanor.

Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) took a different tack, accusing Trump of weaving a web of falsehoods throughout the speech. “There was nothing the president said that was either factual or truthful,” Schiff claimed, casting himself as a arbiter of honesty despite his own contentious track record. When Belisario countered with polling data showing widespread public approval for the address, Schiff dismissed it with a smug, “I don’t know what speech they were watching.”

The exchanges underscore a deep partisan divide, with Democrats facing accusations of pettiness and Republicans seizing the moment to highlight what they see as a lack of decorum. As the fallout continues, the confrontation has only amplified the tension surrounding Trump’s latest congressional appearance.
