Reince Priebus Blasts Democrats on ABC: “They Have No Leader, No Movement, Just Trump Derangement Syndrome”
The Democratic Party has found itself in a downward spiral, with its leadership in disarray and its voter base increasingly disillusioned. Former RNC Chairman and White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus delivered a brutal takedown of the party during a panel discussion on ABC’s This Week, highlighting the Democrats’ growing desperation and lack of direction.
During his exchange with host Martha Raddatz, Priebus outlined how the Democratic Party, once heralded as a coalition of diverse ideas and leadership, has now been reduced to a singular obsession: opposing Donald Trump at all costs.
“The Only Thing They Have is Trump Derangement Syndrome”
Priebus wasted no time exposing the Democrats’ glaring weaknesses:
“The Democrats have had two horrific weeks, and it really just comes down to what Donna [Brazile] said. They’ve got no leader, they’ve got no movement. The only thing they’ve got is Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
He continued:
“AOC and Bernie Sanders are the only people in their entire party that can get a crowd of over 20 to show up. So, the only thing they are—they’re afraid of Trump. Trump owns them, and it was a total slam-dunk for the Republican Party.”
Priebus’ remarks came after a series of self-inflicted wounds by the Democratic Party, including internal divisions, a lackluster response to Trump’s latest victories, and the growing unpopularity of their key figures.
Democrats in Disarray: CNN Poll Exposes the Crisis
A new CNN poll has provided a devastating reality check for Democrats. According to the survey, only 29% of Americans view the Democratic Party favorably—the lowest number recorded in CNN’s polling history dating back to 1992.
The drop in approval is staggering. When Joe Biden first took office in 2021, the Democratic Party still enjoyed a degree of public support, fueled by the hope that his administration would unify the country and deliver on key promises. Fast forward to 2025, and that optimism has collapsed under the weight of inflation, failed policies, and internal party infighting.
The lack of a clear leader is also fueling uncertainty. When Democratic-aligned voters were asked which figure best represents the party’s core values, the results revealed a party in ideological chaos:
- 10% named Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), a radical leftist
- 9% chose Vice President Kamala Harris
- 8% picked socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT)
- 6% pointed to House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries
These numbers highlight a fractured party with no single unifying leader. Contrast this with the Republican Party, where Donald Trump remains the clear and dominant figure, rallying conservatives around his leadership.
Republicans on Offense, Democrats in Retreat
While Democrats scramble to find a cohesive message, Trump and the GOP are surging forward.
- Trump has scored legal and political victories, reaffirming his grip on the Republican Party and positioning himself as the inevitable nominee in 2028.
- The Republican base is energized, with Trump drawing massive crowds at rallies, something Democrats can’t match.
- Major GOP policy wins, such as the rollback of DEI policies and executive orders reshaping federal agencies, show Trump is already making an impact even before the 2026 midterms.
Meanwhile, Democratic leaders are stuck playing defense. From the collapse of their Trump-driven investigations to the infighting over who will replace Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, the party is spiraling into irrelevance and disunity.
A Warning for Democrats: 2026 and 2028 Could Be Disastrous
Unless Democrats find a coherent message beyond just opposing Trump, they risk historic losses in the upcoming elections.
With a weak president, uninspiring leadership, and an agenda out of touch with most Americans, the Democratic Party faces an existential crisis.
If Trump Derangement Syndrome is all they have left, it won’t be enough.
