BUDAPEST — In a video message to attendees of CPAC Hungary, President Donald J. Trump extended warm congratulations and powerful words of support to organizers Miklós Szánthó and Matt Schlapp, as well as to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, whom Trump praised as a “very, very special person” and a “great man.”
“I want to congratulate Miklos Szántho and Matt Schlapp for the great work they’re doing with CPAC Hungary. You know how I feel about Hungary, and you know how I feel about CPAC. I truly respect and care about both of you.”
Trump lauded CPAC’s global reach and its unwavering commitment to conservative values, stating that “conservative values are very good values.” He emphasized the importance of strong borders, law and order, and respect for the military, describing them as foundational principles needed to make countries — and lives — great.
“They want all the things that you want… It has to be fair. It has to be equitable. It has to be everything you want in order to make a country great.”
A Strong Endorsement of Viktor Orbán
President Trump singled out Prime Minister Orbán for his leadership and global stature:
“Hungary’s leader, Viktor Orbán, is a great man and highly respected by all. He’s done a brilliant job leading, and he is a very, very special person.”
Trump and Orbán have long shared mutual admiration, often citing their alignment on immigration, national sovereignty, and Christian values.
CPAC’s Expanding Influence
Trump’s message reinforces CPAC’s growing role on the international stage, particularly as a rallying point for right-wing populist movements across Europe. Hungary, under Orbán’s leadership, has become a model for many in the global conservative movement, and CPAC Hungary has emerged as a key platform for cross-border collaboration among nationalists and traditionalists.
