Royal Biographer Says Palace May “Cut Ties” With Prince Andrew as Legal Pressure Mounts: Prison Not Ruled Out

Could Prince Andrew soon face serious consequences — including potential jail time?

Despite the Royal Family’s attempts to distance themselves from the Duke of York’s scandals — from his connections to Jeffrey Epstein to other controversial associations — the fallout continues to grow. Recent discussions in the UK Parliament over Andrew and ex-wife Sarah Ferguson’s “lifestyle and living arrangements” have sparked renewed scrutiny.

Calls for accountability are escalating, and royal biographer Andrew Lownie believes the situation may take an even more dramatic turn.

Speaking on TalkTV, Lownie — author of Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York — said that the Royal Family is likely to “throw [Andrew] under the bus” due to the ongoing damage to the monarchy’s reputation. He warned that authorities may pursue further legal action.

“I do think the authorities will want to pursue some of these investigations,” Lownie explained. “They will bring charges. I think if they do so there is a very good chance that both he and Sarah Ferguson may well go to prison.”

He also argued that Andrew’s past behavior, including reportedly taking a mistress on taxpayer-funded official trips and allegations of excessive indulgence while abroad, reflected a pattern of entitlement and disregard for royal duty. According to Lownie, such actions occurred with the silent backing of palace insiders — including, he says, the late Queen.

“Clearly there were a lot of people enabling him and protecting him,” Lownie said. “This problem should’ve been dealt with years ago. The Palace only have themselves to blame.”

Lownie’s biography on Andrew and Ferguson, released last year, has intensified public and media attention on the couple’s past — and he believes the Royal Family may soon prioritize self-preservation over loyalty.

For now, Prince Andrew has maintained his innocence on all matters tied to past controversies, but the growing political debate and media pressure suggest his troubles are far from over.
