Senator Josh Hawley Demands Vote on Long-Stalled PELOSI Act to Ban Congressional Stock Trading

Missouri Senator Josh Hawley is once again taking a blowtorch to the corrupt D.C. status quo, demanding a Senate vote on his PELOSI Act—the Preventing Elected Leaders from Owning Securities and Investments Act—aimed squarely at outlawing stock trading by members of Congress and their spouses.

First introduced in January 2023, the PELOSI Act was inspired by the jaw-dropping gains of Nancy and Paul Pelosi, whose net worth skyrocketed through stock trades during Nancy’s decades-long career in Congress—yielding over $100 million in profits. According to Hawley, those gains weren’t just savvy investments—they were a blatant abuse of insider information unavailable to the general public.

“They use information that, frankly, only they are privy to,” Hawley told Breitbart. “Pelosi and her husband beat every hedge fund in America last year. Voters see this and want to vomit.”

Hawley’s outrage isn’t just about one family. He made clear that both parties are guilty of protecting a system rigged in their favor:

“Congress loves to trade stock. That’s just the simple fact. And they will kill any bill that threatens their cash cow.”

Despite fierce resistance—including from his own GOP colleagues—Hawley fought for nearly two years just to get the bill through committee in the last Congress. Now, in April 2025, he’s brought it back before the 119th Congress, determined to give the American people a clean vote.

The legislation is simple: ban all members of Congress and their spouses from buying or selling individual stocks while in office. Period.

Conservative firebrand Steve Bannon hailed Hawley during a recent War Room appearance, calling him the “only true populist” in the Senate and praising his loyalty to President Trump’s MAGA agenda.

“It’s a lonely fight for you up there… Let’s get some more populists.”

Indeed, this is more than just a legislative battle—it’s a test of whether Washington can ever be pried loose from the grip of insider elites who enrich themselves while everyday Americans struggle.

As Hawley puts it: “Ban the trades—or watch voters throw up and throw them out.”

This story is developing, and so is the fight to restore trust in America’s halls of power.
