WATERVILLE, MAINE — Outrage is sweeping across the nation after a disturbing social media tirade from a Maine high school teacher calling for the murder of President Donald Trump and his supporters—and astonishingly, she remains employed.
JoAnna St. Germain, an English teacher at Waterville Senior High School, posted a shocking call to violence on Facebook earlier this week, urging the U.S. Secret Service to “coordinate” the mass killing of Trump supporters.
“Take out every single person who supports Trump’s illegal, immoral, unconstitutional acts,” she wrote in a post that has since gone viral. “You are the ones with the power. Coordinate.”
Despite her extreme comments, which many believe qualify as incitement to violence or even terroristic threats, the school district has not terminated her employment. Instead, officials are offering vague reassurances while refusing to confirm whether any disciplinary action is being taken.
A Chilling Escalation of Rhetoric
In the same post, St. Germain tried to dance around the legal implications, claiming her call wasn’t an assassination threat because Trump “isn’t a president”—a bizarre and delusional statement that ignores the clear reality that Trump was duly elected and remains the leading 2024 presidential candidate.
“I’m not talking about assassinating a president. A president is a person duly elected by the American people,” she wrote. “Tr*mp has shamelessly bragged openly about stealing the election.”
She then doubled down, suggesting that if she had the “skill set,” she would carry out the killings herself, before portraying herself as a “fearless warrior” for speaking out.
“I posted knowing I’d likely lose my job and benefits. I’m not backtracking a single thing. I believe Trump and every sycophant he has surrounded himself with needs to die.”
District Responds With Tepid Statement, But No Action
Superintendent Peter Hallen issued a public response Wednesday following massive backlash from parents, local officials, and national media.
“I have taken steps to ensure everyone’s safety and am, along with the appropriate authorities, actively investigating the incident,” Hallen wrote.
“While I cannot comment on personal matters, I assure you that due process and the safety of our students and staff are my highest priority.”
Despite this promise, St. Germain remains employed, and no formal disciplinary measures have been publicly announced.
Double Standards on Full Display
If the roles were reversed—if a conservative teacher had called for the assassination of Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, or any left-wing politician—the media would be in full meltdown mode. Arrests would be swift. Headlines would be splashed across CNN, MSNBC, and The New York Times. Yet in this case, the silence is deafening.
Americans Demand Accountability
Parents and citizens are demanding answers. Why is a taxpayer-funded teacher allowed to make open death threats and continue teaching children? Where is the federal response? Why hasn’t the Secret Service acted?
As of now, no criminal charges have been filed, and St. Germain remains in her classroom.
