Slovakia Pauses Vaccine Orders Amid DNA Discovery in mRNA Doses
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has issued a decisive halt to all government purchases of COVID-19 vaccines, citing newly surfaced evidence that some mRNA vaccine batches may contain undeclared DNA and foreign substances. The move comes in response to a bombshell report delivered by Dr. Peter Kotlár, Slovakia’s top pandemic policy reviewer, who has labeled aspects of the vaccine rollout as a form of “bioterrorism.”
Dr. Peter Kotlár’s Report: “Fabricated Operation” and “Alarming Residual DNA”
According to Slovak news portal Aktuality, Dr. Kotlár’s government-sanctioned review uncovered troubling levels of residual DNA in multiple vaccine samples previously administered in the country. These findings, he argues, contradict manufacturer disclosures from pharmaceutical giants such as Pfizer and Moderna.
“To ignore the expert findings on the quality of COVID-19 vaccines used in Slovakia would be extremely irresponsible,” Fico said at a press conference on Wednesday.
Kotlár, who has openly criticized the global COVID-19 response as politically driven and profit-motivated, further claimed the international handling of the pandemic was nothing short of an orchestrated operation. He urged Slovak authorities to investigate both the safety and the procurement process behind vaccine contracts.
Government Freezes €5.7M in Vaccine Contracts
Slovakia had previously signed a 2023 deal requiring the purchase of nearly 300,000 additional mRNA vaccine doses by 2026—at a projected cost exceeding €5.7 million. Fico announced that all such future purchases would be frozen pending further analysis.
“We’re not buying any more doses or spending another euro until we get real answers,” Fico stated.
Instead, he has called for the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) to conduct a full, independent review of the vaccine batches in question.
Opposition and Regulatory Backlash
Slovakia’s drug authority, SUKL, quickly fired back, calling the claims “unscientific” and accusing Dr. Kotlár of stoking public panic. Opposition leaders have also labeled Fico’s actions as reckless and politically motivated.
Yet growing skepticism among the Slovak population suggests Fico’s message is resonating with a public disillusioned by years of top-down mandates and emergency legislation.
Vaccine uptake in Slovakia has significantly declined, and public confidence in state health narratives has eroded, particularly in the wake of revelations surrounding rushed regulatory approvals and opaque pharmaceutical contracts.

Prime Minister Fico, who has himself refused the COVID-19 vaccine, framed his position not as anti-vaccine, but pro-transparency and public trust.
“We owe our citizens the truth,” he said. “This isn’t about conspiracy theories—it’s about accountability, transparency, and safety.”
“We have expert evidence—black and white—that these vaccines include DNA and other elements never listed in any documentation. That alone should pause everything.”
The Slovak leader’s bold stance puts him at the forefront of a growing chorus of international voices reevaluating pandemic-era decisions once deemed untouchable. In a political climate still haunted by lockdowns, mandates, and suppression of dissenting views, Fico’s move signals a tectonic shift in how governments may approach health sovereignty and pharmaceutical oversight in the years to come.
