U.S. Marshals Confirm Arrest Warrant for Woman Who Assaulted Federal Official on Newsmax Broadcast
A far-left protester who spat on Acting D.C. U.S. Attorney Ed Martin during a live interview Thursday has been arrested and will face federal charges, officials confirmed Friday morning.
The incident occurred while Martin was appearing on Newsmax in Washington, D.C. He was mid-sentence when the woman aggressively confronted him, identified him by name, and spat directly on him before storming off with her dog.
“You’re a disgusting man!” the woman yelled, as Martin recoiled.
In an uncensored clip circulating online, she screams: “Who the f*ck are you?! You are Ed Martin!” before launching the assault.
According to Daily Caller editor Vince Coglianese, U.S. Marshals acted swiftly:
“Ed Martin tells me the U.S. Marshals do know who the woman is… and if they haven’t already, they will be making an arrest.”
The suspect is expected to be charged under 18 U.S. Code § 111, which criminalizes assaults on federal officers and carries a penalty of up to 8 years in prison, or more if physical injury is involved.
Political Fallout: Trump Replaces Martin Hours Later
In a stunning twist, President Trump pulled Martin’s nomination as D.C. U.S. Attorney just hours after the incident and announced Judge Jeanine Pirro as his new nominee.
While the White House has not commented on whether the incident influenced the decision, sources suggest the administration was seeking a more aggressive legal posture in response to escalating street-level hostility in the capital.
Symbol of Escalating Political Violence?
The attack on Martin—broadcast live and witnessed by millions—has sparked a renewed debate about leftist political violence and the deterioration of civil discourse in public spaces. Martin, a longtime Trump ally and conservative legal activist, had drawn the ire of progressives due to his vocal criticism of the DOJ’s handling of January 6 prosecutions.
“We need to stay focused,” Martin said just moments before being attacked.
Now, that focus has shifted to the growing radicalism of political dissent—and the urgent need to restore order in the nation’s capital.
