Chaos at Delaney Hall: Democrats Accused of Assaulting ICE Agents, Jeffries Issues Threat

High-Ranking Lawmakers Face Criminal Exposure as DHS and DOJ Launch Federal Investigation

A political firestorm has erupted after several Democrat members of Congress were caught on bodycam footage physically assaulting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers at the Delaney Hall detention facility in Newark, New Jersey. The confrontation, which occurred Friday, has already resulted in at least one arrest and could lead to more—including the unprecedented arrest of sitting members of Congress.

Department of Homeland Security officials confirmed that Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ), Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ), and Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) illegally entered the facility and physically confronted agents while demanding the release of detained illegal aliens. McIver, in particular, is seen in now-public ICE bodycam footage shoving and screaming at officers.

“I touch whoever I want, motherf**ker!” McIver shouted during the incident, clad in a red jacket, before assaulting at least one officer.

Jeffries Crosses the Line: “They’ll Find Out”

The fallout intensified on Tuesday when House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries issued a stark warning to federal officials: any attempt to arrest Democrat lawmakers would be met with retaliation.

“They’ll find out. They’ll find out. They’ll find out,” Jeffries repeated in a press gaggle. “It’s a red line. They know better than to go down that road.”

Critics immediately called his statement an overt threat against law enforcement and the judicial process—raising serious constitutional concerns about obstruction and witness intimidation by a sitting federal official.

DHS Responds: “More Arrests Are Likely”

Tricia McLaughlin, Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at DHS, confirmed during a Saturday CNN interview that more arrests are imminent. She revealed that a female ICE agent was bodyslammed during the altercation, and that full bodycam footage of the incident is being compiled for public and prosecutorial review.

“We have bodycam footage of some of these members of Congress assaulting our ICE enforcement officers,” McLaughlin said. “There will likely be more arrests coming.”

Mayor Ras Baraka of Newark has already been arrested and charged with federal trespassing in connection to the facility breach.

DOJ Weighs In: Federal Prosecution on the Horizon

On Monday, U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey Alina Habba confirmed that her office is coordinating with DHS to conduct a full-scale federal investigation into the violent incursion.

“As is true of every investigation this office handles, all available evidence will be thoroughly reviewed prior to making a determination on how to proceed,” Habba said in a statement posted to social media.

Legal experts suggest potential charges could include trespassing, obstruction of justice, assault on federal officers, and conspiracy to interfere with the execution of immigration laws—crimes that carry serious prison time.

The Political Theater Behind the Violence

The confrontation at Delaney Hall was reportedly orchestrated as a publicity stunt to protest ICE detentions of criminal aliens. But what began as a protest has escalated into what could be a defining legal scandal for the Democratic Party, especially in an election year.

Jeffries’ threat has only worsened the optics, with many calling for his immediate censure or resignation. Political commentator Benny Johnson, who published the bodycam footage, described the video as “indisputable evidence of criminal conduct by elected officials.”

Conclusion: A Constitutional Crisis in the Making?

This incident has opened a constitutional Pandora’s box. The very idea of lawmakers assaulting federal officers—and then threatening those who enforce the law—sets a dangerous precedent. With video evidence, witness testimony, and public outrage mounting, the Department of Justice now faces an unavoidable question: Will political status shield members of Congress from the consequences of criminal behavior?

One thing is clear: the American people are watching. And they expect justice—regardless of title.
