Exposing Media Myths: The Truth Behind Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Hat, and the Left’s Immigration Lies

In the latest chapter of deliberate media disinformation, we return to the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an illegal alien with known gang affiliations whose deportation has been twisted by corporate media into a grotesque morality tale. You’ve likely heard that Garcia was deported by the Trump administration without cause—plucked off the street for wearing a Chicago Bulls hat, as if that alone justified ICE action.

It’s a lie. And the facts, which I’ve reported for months, paint an entirely different picture.

The Hat: Symbolic, Not Arbitrary

Garcia’s Chicago Bulls hat wasn’t some fashion statement. In the neighborhood he lived in, law enforcement identified that specific gear as a localized MS-13 gang marker. It’s well known in gang enforcement circles that certain logos—Bulls, Raiders, Dodgers—are repurposed as gang identifiers.

That said, two judges ruled the hat alone wasn’t sufficient evidence. But that doesn’t mean there wasn’t a case. On the contrary—Garcia’s MS-13 affiliation was confirmed by multiple sources, including:

  • A Maryland gang unit

  • A confidential informant

  • An appellate board ruling

So no, the Trump administration didn’t deport a law-abiding immigrant for wearing the wrong hat. They removed a known gang member with a record of domestic violence, including beating his wife and children.

Legal Status: Another Media Fabrication

Contrary to viral headlines, Garcia was not a U.S. citizen, nor was he a green card holder. He entered the country illegally. The only reason he hadn’t been deported sooner was that a judge had previously accepted his claim that returning to El Salvador might endanger him—a decision rooted in asylum technicalities, not citizenship or innocence.

The real error, if any, was procedural: he was deported directly to El Salvador, despite a court ruling that prohibited that specific action. The Trump administration attempted to correct the issue, asking President Bukele of El Salvador to return him. Bukele refused.

But the bottom line remains: Garcia had no legal right to remain in the United States, and he will be deported again—to any country willing to accept him—should he reenter.

Other Fabricated Deportation Outrages

The Garcia case isn’t isolated. Media outlets have churned out story after story misrepresenting immigration enforcement actions, like:

  • Ximena Arias-Cristobal: Detained in Georgia after being pulled over for a valid traffic violation and found to be undocumented. Media claimed she was “wrongfully pulled over.” Reality: she had no license and ICE followed standard procedure.

  • The “Deported Toddler” Myth: Major outlets ran with the story of a 2-year-old U.S. citizen allegedly deported to Honduras. The truth? Her undocumented mother was deported, and chose to take her daughter. The child’s “deportation” was neither illegal nor government-directed—it was a parental decision.

In both cases, journalists selectively omitted key facts to push anti-ICE, anti-Trump narratives rooted in emotional manipulation rather than law or logic.

The Real Story: Law Enforcement, Not Tyranny

ICE, DHS, and local police are not rounding up random citizens based on hats, skin color, or politics. They are following the law, often under extreme scrutiny, with serious safety risks to their own agents. And yet the media continues to portray these officers as villains.

This is politically driven propaganda—and it’s putting lives at risk while undermining the public’s trust in law enforcement.

We Must Demand the Truth

As the corporate press churns out headline after headline loaded with misinformation, I promise Gateway Pundit readers this: I will continue to expose the lies, track down the omitted facts, and bring you the truth the media refuses to report.

And if you come across a suspect headline that doesn’t pass the smell test, send it my way. Together, we will hold the press accountable and set the record straight—one case at a time.
