The ongoing saga surrounding Prince Andrew’s future at Royal Lodge has taken yet another dramatic turn, with new claims suggesting Prince William may have played a key role in pushing him out.
Prince Andrew, who has faced years of scandal and public scrutiny, previously surrendered his royal honors and duties following his controversial ties to Jeffrey Epstein. His residence at the sprawling 30-room Royal Lodge in Windsor has also been a major point of contention, as King Charles has long sought to remove him from the property—both to distance the monarchy from Andrew’s scandals and due to reports of the estate falling into disrepair.
This week, reports emerged indicating Andrew has finally agreed to vacate the mansion. But a surprising allegation surfaced shortly after: according to broadcaster Emily Maitlis — who famously conducted the 2019 Newsnight interview with Andrew — Prince William may have delivered a tough ultimatum to Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, urging them to convince their father to leave the residence.
Maitlis suggested on The News Agents podcast that William warned the princesses their own royal status could face scrutiny if Andrew refused to move out. She implied that the threat centered on their continued use of their princess titles, adding that pressure was being applied behind the scenes to ensure Andrew’s compliance.
However, insiders quickly refuted the story. Sources speaking to The Telegraph denied any such meeting took place, and emphasized that Prince William does not have the authority to remove titles. Royal aides also stressed that Beatrice and Eugenie’s positions remain unchanged and that they will continue to be part of family events, including Christmas gatherings.
In other words, while the battle over Royal Lodge may be nearing its end, the royal rumor mill is still running at full speed — and the fallout surrounding Prince Andrew shows no sign of slowing down.
