Sanders Shrugs Off Criticism: “No Apologies” for Skipping Lines While Preaching to the Masses About Inequality
Self-proclaimed democratic socialist Senator Bernie Sanders is once again under fire — and this time, it’s about the jet fumes trailing behind his anti-oligarchy crusade.
During a recent interview on Fox News with host Bret Baier, Sanders doubled down on his private jet usage, defending over $200,000 in flight costs as necessary to reach supporters during his “Fight the Oligarchy” tour. Yes, the irony writes itself.
When pressed about the contradiction between his anti-billionaire rhetoric and luxury travel habits, Sanders didn’t flinch:
“You think I’m going to be sitting on a waiting line at United while 30,000 people are waiting?” he snapped.
“That’s the only way you can get around… No apologies for that.”
Sanders was responding to a Washington Free Beacon report showing millions in campaign cash spent on private jet travel over the years, particularly for this latest nationwide tour aimed at resisting Donald Trump’s return.
The kicker? These same events often came with COVID-era restrictions, including mask advisories for outdoor rallies — for attendees, of course, not the jet-set senator himself.
“Masks are advised for all attendees of this event,” read one organizer’s email ahead of a Colorado stop.
This tone-deaf defense of elite privilege wrapped in the banner of populism is nothing new for Sanders. While he rallies the working class with warnings about billionaire power and climate catastrophe, his frequent flier lifestyle continues unabated — on private emissions-heavy aircraft no less.
It’s hard to preach revolution from 30,000 feet without sounding like part of the very club you claim to oppose.
