U.S. Marshals Confirm Arrest of Woman Who Assaulted Federal Official on Newsmax Broadcast
The U.S. Marshals Service has confirmed the arrest of a leftist protester who spat on Acting D.C. U.S. Attorney Ed Martin during a live appearance on Newsmax, in what is now being treated as a federal assault case.
The incident took place Thursday afternoon while Martin was speaking on air, discussing matters of public policy and legal reform, when an aggressive female protester approached him, yelled profanities, and spat directly in his face—all while being recorded live.
“You’re a disgusting man!” she screamed, moments after identifying him by name.
In an uncensored video now circulating online, the woman is heard shouting:
“Who the f*ck are you?! You are Ed Martin!”
before launching the assault and walking away with her dog.
According to Martin and confirmed by Daily Caller editor Vince Coglianese, the woman’s identity was quickly determined, and the U.S. Marshals arrested her under 18 U.S. Code § 111, which criminalizes assaulting or impeding a federal officer. The charge can carry up to 8 years in prison, or more if bodily injury is involved.
“Assaulting a federal officer is a crime,” Martin said. “We need to stay focused.”

Just hours after the incident, President Trump pulled Ed Martin’s nomination for permanent D.C. U.S. Attorney and instead announced Judge Jeanine Pirro as his new pick for the position. Though the White House has not linked the assault to the nomination change, political insiders say the two developments may be connected.
Martin’s profile had risen sharply in recent weeks as he took on politically sensitive prosecutions tied to D.C. corruption and January 6 fallout.
