Permanent Protection from Leftist Rollback Now on the Table
Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) announced Thursday he will introduce sweeping legislation to codify President Donald J. Trump’s America First Executive Orders into federal law, answering a growing demand from conservative voters to secure Trump’s policies against future reversal.
“It is past time for Congress to take action,” Burchett declared on X. “So I am taking charge to ensure we implement President Trump’s agenda.”
From Executive Action to Law of the Land
Since returning to office in January 2025, President Trump has moved rapidly to reinstate and expand the America First platform. But Republicans fear that without legislative backing, his victories could be undone by the stroke of a pen if Democrats return to power.
Burchett’s plan? A series of single-issue bills that will transform Trump’s executive actions into permanent law, protecting:
-
Energy Independence: Legislation to unleash domestic oil and gas production
-
Border Security: Codifying Trump’s immigration and deportation orders
-
Education: Eliminating foreign and woke influence in schools
-
Regulatory Reform: Slashing bureaucratic red tape permanently
-
Fiscal Responsibility: Enforcing deep government spending cuts (DOGE cuts)
Mounting Pressure on Speaker Johnson
Burchett’s move comes just days after 17 House Republicans, led by Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN), sent a searing letter to Speaker Mike Johnson, blasting him for failing to push forward Trump’s legislative priorities. The letter, obtained by Breitbart, warns:
“Unless Congress acts, many of these victories are at risk… We cannot let that happen. If we want this new era of American greatness to last, we must codify the President’s actions into law.”
Political commentator Amuse has also noted that the current GOP-led Congress has sent fewer bills to President Trump than any Congress in 70 years, raising concerns about Republican resolve.
A New Litmus Test for 2025 Republicans
Burchett’s legislation will become a litmus test for every Republican in Congress: Are they committed to institutionalizing the Trump agenda, or just playing politics?
Grassroots conservatives have made it clear — executive orders aren’t enough. They want law, accountability, and permanence. Burchett is stepping forward as the face of that movement.
With the future of America First hanging in the balance, the next few weeks could determine whether Trump’s second term becomes a fleeting policy blip — or the foundation of a lasting political revolution.
