In a bold move to defend constitutional liberties, Representative Abraham Hamadeh (R-AZ) has sent a compelling letter to FBI Director Kash Patel, calling for an immediate investigation into the misuse of federal law enforcement powers against American parents who spoke out at school board meetings from January 1, 2020, to the present.
Co-signed by Representatives Jim Jordan (OH), Eli Crane (AZ), Paul Gosar (AZ), Andy Biggs (AZ), and Andy Ogles (TN), the letter exposes what the lawmakers describe as a systematic and politically driven campaign of intimidation and retaliation against law-abiding citizens.
First Amendment Under Fire: Parents Branded as Domestic Terrorists
Representative Hamadeh’s letter expresses outrage over how ordinary parents—exercising their protected rights to free speech and peaceful assembly—were surveilled, investigated, and even prosecuted under the false label of “domestic terrorists.” The targeting stemmed largely from an infamous 2021 memo issued by Attorney General Merrick Garland, which urged federal coordination with local school officials and law enforcement to monitor dissent at school board meetings.
“This coordinated purposeful targeting and mistreatment of concerned parents must be addressed by the FBI and Attorney General on a high-priority level,” writes Hamadeh.
Families Devastated by Federal Overreach
Parents who simply raised objections to curriculum policies, mask mandates, or school transparency initiatives were met not with dialogue, but with handcuffs and court dates. Hamadeh’s letter documents instances of peaceful protestors being arrested, fined, or even jailed—often with no legitimate legal basis.
“These actions by federal and local authorities have resulted in significant personal and financial hardship for American families, often without substantiated cause or threats,” the letter notes.
In response, the lawmakers are demanding not just accountability, but restitution. Among their demands:
-
A full investigation into all related arrests, prosecutions, and surveillance operations
-
An Executive Order to expunge politically motivated convictions
-
Restitution for families wrongfully targeted
Public Outcry Grows: Grassroots Support Surges
The congressional call to action was bolstered by grassroots advocates like Kelly John Walker of FreedomTalk.com, who initiated contact with congressional offices on behalf of victimized families. Walker’s email from June 27, 2023, shared harrowing stories—including his own—of parents and even minor children being unlawfully arrested simply for speaking out.
“Those who authorized or carried out these actions—including public school administrators—must be held responsible,” wrote Walker. “On behalf of many parents and families across the nation, I want to thank Representative Hamadeh for sponsoring this letter, and for the continued support of Representatives Crane, Gosar, Ogles, Biggs, and Jordan.”
Restoring Constitutional Integrity: A National Imperative
At the heart of this initiative is a broader demand for the federal government to recommit to its founding principles. Walker and the co-signing lawmakers insist that civil liberties must be defended against political weaponization.
“It is past time for the American government to reaffirm its commitment to uphold civil liberties,” said Walker. “This administration has a duty to restore the Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness these parents enjoyed before their own government waged war upon them.”
The Path Forward
As momentum builds behind Representative Hamadeh’s letter, pressure mounts on the FBI and DOJ to respond. For millions of parents who feel silenced or surveilled, this congressional action represents a potential turning point—a clear message that the days of unchecked federal overreach may soon be numbered.
Whether this results in real accountability remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: a national reckoning on government abuse of power is no longer avoidable.
