Controversy Erupts Over Study Labeling “Christ is King” as Extremist Language

A new report from the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI) has ignited backlash after suggesting that the phrase “Christ is King” has been appropriated by extremist groups on social media.

The study specifically mentions conservative commentator Jack Posobiec, noting that while his usage of the phrase is neutral and free of offensive content, it still questions the underlying meaning of the expression.

Posobiec: This is an Attack on Religious Expression

Posobiec vehemently rejected the report’s insinuations, arguing that “Christ is King” is a long-standing Christian declaration of faith with no political or extremist connotations.

“I’ve heard this phrase my whole life. It’s a core part of Christian belief. Now suddenly, it’s being framed as problematic? Why?”

He warned that this mischaracterization is part of a larger agenda—an attempt to control religious discourse by labeling certain Christian expressions as offensive, extremist, or even illegal.

Tim Pool & Jason Whitlock Call Out “Censorship” Tactics

Journalists Tim Pool and Jason Whitlock also slammed the NCRI report, accusing it of pushing a censorship agenda.

🔹 Tim Pool: “Any institution that publishes reports on so-called ‘wrongthink’ loses all credibility. This is an attempt to police speech.”
🔹 Jason Whitlock: “They’re trying to make proclaiming Jesus as King unacceptable. This is a blatant attempt to discredit Christian faith.”

Whitlock also noted how including Posobiec’s posts in the report—even with a disclaimer—was a subtle way to discredit him by association.

Posobiec: A Psychological Operation to Censor Faith

Posobiec took his criticism further, warning that this type of research lays the groundwork for labeling “Christ is King” as hate speech or antisemitism—a move that could lead to:
Social media censorship
Deplatforming of Christians
Legal restrictions on religious speech

“This is a psychological operation. They are conditioning people to believe that Christian phrases are offensive. Where does this end?” Posobiec warned.

Jordan Peterson’s Involvement Sparks Disappointment

One of the most surprising elements for Posobiec was seeing Dr. Jordan Peterson’s name attached to the report.

“I’ve always respected Jordan Peterson as a free speech advocate. Seeing his name on this was disappointing.”

Posobiec labeled the study as ‘woke lite’, accusing its authors of creating lists, labeling people, and controlling language based on subjective interpretations of intent.

Whitlock: “They Think They Can Judge Intentions”

Whitlock expanded on the dangerous precedent being set, arguing that no one has the right to judge the intentions behind someone’s words.

🔹 “The Bible is very clear about judging intentions—we are not capable of that.”
🔹 “They’ve decided Jack Posobiec says it ‘the right way,’ but Candace Owens says it ‘the wrong way.’ Based on what? Their own judgment?”

Is “Christ is King” Being Targeted for Censorship?

Posobiec and his allies see this not just as an isolated incident, but a larger trend aimed at undermining Christian speech in the public square.

Whitlock pointed out how the mainstream media suddenly began attacking the phrase, noting that The Daily Beast recently published an article calling for certain people to be expelled from platforms for using it.

Meanwhile, the NCRI study framed the phrase as a dog whistle used to “defame Jews”—a claim critics say is a complete fabrication designed to justify future censorship.

Posobiec Responds with Defiance: “Christ is King”

In response to the smear campaign, Posobiec doubled down—reaffirming his stance with the very phrase they want to silence:

💬 “Christ is King.”

As this battle over free speech and religious expression continues, one thing is clear: Christians aren’t backing down.
