The scandal surrounding MS-13 gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia has deepened with new revelations exposing the Biden administration’s shocking mishandling of a potentially dangerous foreign national. According to an explosive investigation by The Tennessee Star, Abrego Garcia — who was recently deported by the Trump administration — was not only in the U.S. illegally, but also allegedly involved in a human trafficking operation and may have been flagged on a terrorist watch list.
The 2022 Incident: Human Trafficking and No License
In December 2022, a Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) officer pulled over Abrego Garcia during a traffic stop. The officer discovered he was transporting seven other individuals from Texas to Maryland — a red flag consistent with trafficking activity. Further investigation revealed that Abrego Garcia did not possess a valid driver’s license.
He was detained on the spot. That’s when things took a disturbing turn.
FBI Steps In — and Lets Him Go
After detaining the group, the THP contacted the FBI for further instructions. Multiple sources told The Tennessee Star that Abrego Garcia was allegedly on a terrorist watch list, or that at least one of the seven passengers was. Rather than detaining the individuals for further questioning or deportation, Biden’s FBI — then under Director Christopher Wray — ordered their release after instructing THP to take photos of all eight people and document vehicle contents.
Despite the credible suspicion of terrorism and trafficking, the FBI told THP to let them all walk free.
Trump Administration Deports Abrego Garcia — Supreme Court Pushes Back
Abrego Garcia, who illegally entered the United States in 2011, was later deported under the Trump administration. His documented ties to MS-13 and confirmed illegal status gave the administration grounds for removal, citing two court rulings that recognized his gang affiliation — which, under U.S. law, designated him as a foreign terrorist.
Yet, the drama didn’t end there. An Obama-appointed judge ruled that the Trump administration must not only facilitate, but also “effectuate” Abrego Garcia’s return to the U.S. The Supreme Court then ruled that the Trump team had satisfied its legal burden to “facilitate” — not force — the return.
El Salvador Says No
Despite the court ruling, El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele has refused to send Abrego Garcia back, effectively nullifying the demand. Bukele has made it clear he will not return a known gang member and suspected trafficker to the U.S. under these conditions.
A Pattern of Prioritizing Criminal Aliens?
This case highlights a growing pattern under the Biden administration: a willingness to ignore security threats tied to illegal immigration in favor of political optics and open-border policies. The release of Abrego Garcia — potentially a terrorist and trafficker — may go down as one of the most egregious derelictions of duty by federal law enforcement in recent history.
As public outrage builds, expect more demands for answers from both Congress and the American people.
