In a horrifying act of violence that has stunned South Florida, 27-year-old Hailey Hosford, a popular and beloved hairstylist, was stabbed to death in a luxury apartment parking garage in Sunrise in what police are calling a “random attack.”
The shocking assault, which took place just after 1:30 a.m. last Wednesday, left Hailey dead and her male friend critically injured after being stabbed in the neck. The friend managed to escape and call 911, leading to a swift manhunt and arrest.
The Suspect: Cold, Calculated, and Remorseless
Jackson Julian Sagesse, 21, was arrested and charged with premeditated murder and attempted felony murder. Court documents reveal a chilling detail: Sagesse told investigators, “I just killed someone and walked away.”
Surveillance footage shows Sagesse approaching Hosford’s Mercedes Benz, opening the door, and viciously stabbing her as she attempted to hide in the back seat. Police say he struck her neck repeatedly, confirming the deliberate and gruesome nature of the attack. Initially attempting to claim self-defense, Sagesse later admitted he stabbed her at least 10 times, aiming directly for the throat.
Sunrise Police have labeled the incident a random, unprovoked act of violence, with no known connection between the suspect and his victims.
Scene of the Crime: Luxury Turned Nightmare
The attack occurred at The Retreat at Sawgrass Village, a high-end apartment complex across from the Amerant Bank Arena. Residents reported seeing a body lying lifeless in the garage before emergency services arrived, a horrifying image that will haunt the community for years.
A Community in Shock
Hosford was more than just a stylist. She was a rising entrepreneur with a loyal following, known for her glamorous flair, charm, and ambition. Friends, clients, and social media followers have poured out tributes, remembering her as a vibrant young woman full of promise whose life was brutally stolen.
As South Florida reels from this senseless tragedy, the case raises questions about late-night safety, rising random violence, and mental health failures that allow dangerous individuals to slip through the cracks until it’s too late.
Sagesse remains in custody without bond.
Justice for Hailey Hosford is only just beginning—but the community will never forget the horror she endured.
