Speaker Johnson Celebrates Legislative Wins Advancing Trump’s America First Agenda

House Speaker Mike Johnson appeared on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” to mark 100 days of the 119th Congress and to celebrate recent progress in advancing President Donald Trump’s America First policy agenda. In his interview with Maria Bartiromo, Johnson touted the successful passage of the latest budget bill and outlined Republican priorities heading into the next legislative cycle.

Budget Milestone: Delivering on Campaign Promises

When asked about the recently passed budget ahead of the Easter recess, Johnson described it as a “big milestone.”

“We’ve been very busy delivering on the promises we made to the American people to help President Trump make America stronger, safer, and more prosperous again,” Johnson said. He emphasized that the legislation checks many of the boxes of Trump’s campaign promises, solidifying conservative priorities into federal policy.

GOP Unity With Few Exceptions

Bartiromo pointed out that only two Republicans broke ranks to vote against the legislation, aligning with Democrats. Johnson defended the year-long process that led to the bill’s passage, saying it involved “deliberate negotiation” and “hard work” to create a comprehensive legislative framework that aligns with the America First agenda.

Confronting the National Debt

Speaker Johnson also sounded the alarm on fiscal responsibility, calling the national debt “probably the greatest single threat to our national security right now.”

Pressed on where spending cuts would occur, Johnson made clear that core entitlements like Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid would be protected for legal beneficiaries. “We have lots of categories where the government is too large and does too many things,” Johnson said. “This bill is a step toward right-sizing government and ensuring it works better for the people.”

A Blueprint for America First Governance

The budget bill and broader GOP strategy are meant to act as a legislative blueprint for Trump’s second-term vision. Johnson noted that the spending package not only funds vital programs but also reflects key principles of the America First platform—including domestic energy development, defense prioritization, and immigration enforcement.

As the 119th Congress resumes work post-recess, Speaker Johnson vowed continued alignment with Trump’s economic nationalism and institutional reform efforts.

“This is only the beginning,” Johnson concluded.
