Jeff Metcalf Condemns Activists at Rally for His Son, Says Race Had No Role in Austin’s Death

Jeff Metcalf, father of slain Frisco teen Austin Metcalf, has publicly condemned protestors using his son’s name and image to advance political or racial narratives, declaring that those rallying under banners of racial division are “part of the f—ing problem.”

His remarks came during a tense confrontation at a “Protect White Americans” rally held in Frisco, Texas, on Saturday — an event organized by January 6 defendants Jake Lang and Philip Anderson. The rally coincided with a counter-demonstration demanding justice for Karmelo Anthony, the 17-year-old accused of fatally stabbing Austin Metcalf at a track meet on April 2.

Metcalf Disavows Both Sides

Unable to attend the rally in person, Jeff Metcalf spoke via speakerphone, brought in by a representative who stood before the crowd. His message was clear and direct:

“You are part of the f—ing problem, my friend. You are trying to cause more race divide than bridging the gap. I do not condone anything you do.”

Metcalf emphasized that race played no role in his son’s murder and expressed anger that activists had co-opted his son’s memory to promote political agendas — regardless of ideology. He specifically requested that all parties stop using his son’s image or name to “fuel their cause.”

Organizers Push Back

In response, Jake Lang accused Metcalf of having “white guilt,” and warned that disavowing the rally would “lead to thousands more Austin Metcalfs.” Philip Anderson, who is Black, defended the rally’s message as a call for racial justice for white victims, not incitement.

The confrontation, captured on video by Tony Ortiz of Current Revolt, went viral, intensifying the national spotlight on an already volatile case.

The Murder and Legal Aftermath

Austin Metcalf, 17, was stabbed in the chest at a high school track meet after reportedly asking Karmelo Anthony to leave his team’s tent. Witnesses say Anthony pulled a knife from his backpack and stabbed Austin in the heart, killing him in front of his twin brother.

Anthony has since admitted to the killing and has been charged with first-degree murder. Controversially, his bond was recently reduced from $1 million to $250,000, allowing for his release under house arrest.

Earlier this week, Jeff Metcalf was forcibly removed from a press conference hosted by Anthony’s family and the Next Generation Action Network after reportedly attending uninvited. His presence at the event and his subsequent denouncement of political exploitation have positioned him at the center of a growing cultural and legal firestorm.

A Father’s Plea

Since the day after his son’s murder, Jeff Metcalf has consistently pushed back against racial narratives, calling for unity and urging others not to hijack his family’s tragedy for political ends.

His message remains unchanged: “This is not about race. This is about justice for Austin — and nothing more.”

As the case proceeds through the courts, the national conversation it sparked continues to unfold — one that Jeff Metcalf clearly wishes would focus solely on his son’s life, not political theater.
