A small aircraft crashed near Boca Raton Airport Friday morning, killing all three individuals on board and injuring a man on the ground in a nearby vehicle.
Cessna 310 Goes Down Minutes After Takeoff
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the aircraft, a Cessna 310, had just departed from Boca Raton Airport and was en route to Tallahassee International Airport. The crash occurred at approximately 10:20 a.m. near the intersection of Military Trail and Glades Road, a busy area just west of Interstate 95.
Aircraft Crashes Into Vehicle, Injures Driver
Assistant Fire Chief Michael LaSalle of Boca Raton Fire Rescue confirmed that all three people aboard the aircraft were killed on impact. A fourth victim—an individual inside a car struck by the plane—was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Video from the scene showed a fiery wreckage and extensive damage to surrounding areas. Eyewitness accounts noted the loud noise of a low-flying aircraft just before impact.
Local Pilot Observes Erratic Flight Path
Shortly after the crash, local aviation observers shared data showing the Cessna 310 had been flying at an unusually low altitude—just 200 feet above ground level—before it disappeared from radar. The aircraft’s strange behavior was captured in real time by Flightradar24, further fueling concerns of an onboard emergency or mechanical failure.
“I noticed a propeller plane sounded really loud and low,” said local pilot Lorenzo Echeverria on social media. “I checked the flight tracker and saw this Cessna 310 flying weird close to the airport. Moments later, it crashed.”
