MSNBC Forced to Retract False Claim About Kash Patel Live On-Air After Latest Media Hoax Implodes

Another Fabricated Smear Falls Apart as Truth Catches Up to Anti-Trump Narratives

In what has become a recurring pattern of media disinformation, MSNBC was forced to walk back yet another false claim—this time targeting FBI Director Kash Patel—after airing baseless accusations during a segment on “Morning Joe.”

Last week, former FBI assistant director Frank Figliuzzi told viewers, without any evidence, that Patel was spending more time partying in nightclubs than leading the FBI from its D.C. headquarters. The sensational accusation was quickly amplified by anti-Trump voices but unraveled within days.

The Bogus Claim

“Reportedly, he’s been visible at nightclubs far more than he has been on the seventh floor of the Hoover building,” Figliuzzi declared, implying that Patel was neglecting his duties.

He went on to suggest the FBI was in disarray under Patel’s leadership, citing so-called “chaos” inside the agency and claiming Patel was working remotely from Las Vegas for much of the week.

The commentary, devoid of sourcing or verification, was quickly spread across social media and left-leaning news blogs as part of a broader attempt to undermine President Trump’s appointees.

The Retraction

On Monday, after pushback from sources close to Patel and questions about the claim’s legitimacy, MSNBC issued a public correction on-air:

“This was a misstatement. We have not verified that claim,” the network said flatly.

The embarrassing retraction once again raised questions about MSNBC’s editorial standards and its willingness to air speculative narratives against political enemies of the left.

A Pattern of Smears

This isn’t the first time Figliuzzi or MSNBC have had to walk back claims about Trump-affiliated figures. Patel, a longtime national security official and former aide to Rep. Devin Nunes, has been a frequent target of smears by legacy media and Democrat operatives, particularly due to his involvement in uncovering FBI misconduct during the Russia collusion hoax.

“This isn’t journalism—it’s coordinated defamation,” said a spokesperson for Patel. “Once again, fake news gets a prime-time audience, and the correction is buried.”

The Real Chaos

While Figliuzzi attempted to cast Patel as absent and disinterested, those close to the Director report that Patel has been working around the clock to implement structural reforms at the FBI and purge political partisanship from the Bureau.

Insiders point to Patel’s fast-moving internal audits, demotions of rogue agents, and outreach to whistleblowers as a major reason he’s being targeted by the old guard and their media allies.

“He’s not partying—he’s cleaning house,” said one administration official. “And the swamp knows it.”

Conclusion: Another Hoax Down, More to Come?

MSNBC’s live correction is a small but significant admission in a media landscape saturated with politically driven misinformation. For critics of the corporate press, it’s another example of how anti-Trump narratives are often built on innuendo, not facts.

The only question now: who’s the next target—and how long before the next media hoax collapses under scrutiny?
