New Poll Shows Majority of Americans Trust Trump Over Biden to Uphold the Rule of Law

A new Rasmussen poll has delivered a striking blow to President Joe Biden’s legacy while reaffirming Donald Trump’s core appeal: defending the U.S. Constitution. According to the survey conducted from May 6–8, 52% of likely voters believe Trump has done a “good” or “excellent” job in “preserving, protecting, and defending the Constitution.”

That number eclipses Biden’s peak rating of just 44% during his presidency — a stark contrast underscoring growing public trust in Trump’s constitutional stewardship, despite relentless media attacks.

Voters See Trump as the Constitution’s Defender

The poll, with a margin of error of ±3 percentage points, reflects an increasingly obvious divide: Trump is viewed as a fighter for constitutional integrity, while Biden is seen as evasive, secretive, and ultimately indifferent to enforcing the law.

The public perception is fueled by Trump’s visible willingness to take unscripted questions from hostile media and his actions on issues like immigration. His approach stands in sharp contrast to Biden’s tendency to avoid the press and rely on pre-approved softball questions from friendly outlets.

Biden’s Collapse: Health Scandal and Policy Failures

What’s fueling this perception of Biden’s constitutional failure? According to another Rasmussen poll, 72% of voters believe the Biden administration lied about his declining physical and mental health, labeling the deception a “serious scandal.”

Even more damning is Biden’s failure to faithfully execute U.S. immigration laws, a direct violation of Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution. By allowing mass illegal crossings and neglecting border enforcement, Biden is perceived as shirking one of the core duties of the presidency.

Trump’s Border Actions Seen as Constitutionally Mandated

In contrast, Trump’s aggressive enforcement of immigration law — from building the border wall to empowering ICE to remove illegal aliens — is seen by supporters as constitutionally grounded and essential to national security. That framing has only intensified support, especially as Democratic-led sanctuary policies continue to spark outrage across key battleground states.

The Verdict Is In — and It’s Constitutional

While media narratives may try to distract, the poll data sends a clear message: Donald Trump is widely viewed as the president who respects and upholds the U.S. Constitution, even in the face of unprecedented opposition. Biden, meanwhile, leaves behind a record marred by evasion, executive overreach, and scandal.

As America barrels toward 2026 and beyond, this poll underscores what may become the central issue of the next election: Which leader will truly protect the rule of law?

For now, the people’s answer is unmistakable — it’s Donald J. Trump.
