President Trump Issues Pardon to Hunter Biden’s Former Business Partner Devon Archer
President Donald Trump signed a full pardon for Devon Archer, the former business partner of Hunter Biden, who had been convicted in a high-profile securities fraud case dating back to 2018.
The controversial case involved Archer and his associate, Jason Galanis, defrauding the Wakpamni Lake Community Corporation, affiliated with the Oglala Sioux Tribe in South Dakota. According to federal court documents, Archer and Galanis issued over $60 million in fraudulent bonds, misusing the proceeds for lavish personal purchases including luxury vehicles, jewelry, and real estate.
Background on Archer’s Conviction and Legal Battle
Initially, Archer was found guilty and sentenced to one year and one day in prison, along with forfeiting $15.7 million and being ordered to pay restitution of $43.4 million. Despite a temporary decision by Judge Ronnie Abrams to vacate the conviction, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals reinstated the guilty verdict. The Supreme Court subsequently declined Archer’s appeal, upholding the appellate court’s decision.
However, Archer had yet to serve his sentence due to sentencing guideline errors, leading Judge Abrams to reconsider the sentencing process. This issue became moot following President Trump’s decision to intervene directly.
President Trump Explains Decision to Pardon Archer
Announcing the pardon, President Trump stated clearly:
“Many people have asked me to do this. I think he was treated very unfairly. And I looked at the records, studied the records, and he was. As far as I’m concerned, he was the victim of a crime. So we’re going to undo that.”
Archer’s pardon represents a significant development, especially given his close ties to Hunter Biden and allegations involving the Biden family’s business practices.
Devon Archer Speaks Out Following Pardon
Appearing on FOX News with Jesse Watters shortly after receiving the pardon, Archer shared his perspective, suggesting he was unfairly targeted as “collateral damage” by the Biden administration after publicly accusing Hunter Biden and his father, President Joe Biden, of selling access to the “Biden brand.”
Archer emphasized that Joe Biden once told him:
“You do a favor for me, you’re a friend. You do a favor for my son, you’re a friend for life.”
He described how he felt abandoned by the Bidens, despite previous assurances that he would be protected.
Archer’s Involvement in the Burisma Controversy
Devon Archer’s connection to Hunter Biden drew national attention due to their joint involvement with the Ukrainian energy company, Burisma Holdings. Archer was directly linked to Burisma executive Vadym Pozharskyi, who sought specific actions from Biden-linked entities, including meetings and public endorsements from high-ranking U.S. officials.
The controversy intensified when then-Vice President Joe Biden notoriously pressured Ukraine into firing prosecutor Viktor Shokin, who was investigating Burisma. Biden later publicly bragged about this episode, contributing to the ongoing scrutiny surrounding the Biden family’s foreign business dealings.
Trump’s pardon of Archer places renewed focus on these past controversies, potentially reigniting debates over the Biden family’s alleged influence-peddling and further complicating the political landscape ahead of future elections.
