WASHINGTON, D.C. — Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) unleashed a fiery rebuke of what he called the “insanity” of the modern Democratic Party, accusing top Democrats of prioritizing violent illegal aliens and MS-13 gang members over the safety and well-being of American citizens.
Speaking in response to a group of Democrat lawmakers—including Sen. Chris Van Hollen, Rep. Robert Garcia (CA), Rep. Maxwell Frost (FL), Rep. Yassamin Ansari (AZ), and Rep. Maxine Dexter (OR)—who recently traveled to El Salvador to advocate for Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national with an alleged violent criminal record, Cruz didn’t hold back.
“It is a very bizarre political decision that the Democrats have made,” Cruz said. “They have decided that they are the party of illegal immigrants and the party of gang members.”
The delegation of leftist lawmakers reportedly stayed in luxury accommodations while lobbying for Abrego Garcia, an accused MS-13 affiliate, despite reports of domestic abuse allegations from his wife and warnings from Salvadoran authorities about his background.
Cruz: Trump Hatred Has Driven Democrats to “Crazy Town”
Cruz blasted what he described as the Democratic obsession with opposing Trump at any cost, saying it has led them to adopt increasingly unhinged positions, including sympathy for criminal aliens.
“Trump Derangement Syndrome is a real mental illness,” Cruz continued. “They hate Donald Trump so much that it has driven them to crazy town.”
“Why is it that Democrats care so much about supporting violent criminal illegal aliens? Why is it that they care so much about MS-13 gang members?” Cruz asked, visibly frustrated.
The Texas senator pointed out that most Americans—regardless of party—do not want gang violence imported into their communities, yet Democrats seem fixated on opposing Trump’s immigration policies even if it means aligning with violent criminals.
Democrats’ Political Gamble: Embrace of Open Borders and Criminal Sympathy
Cruz warned that the Democrats’ political gamble—doubling down on support for open borders and criminal leniency—will backfire at the ballot box.
“We’re seeing Democrat senators, Democrat house members flying down to El Salvador and putting all their political capital behind the position that we need more illegal immigrants in America, we need more criminals in America, and we need more MS-13 gang members in America.”
“It’s madness,” he said. “And it’s proof that the Democratic Party is no longer the party of working Americans—it’s the party of radical, lawless activism.”
As the 2026 election season heats up, Cruz’s statement sets the tone for what may become a defining battle line: law and order vs. left-wing extremism, with the safety of American communities at stake.
