Promising Young Life Cut Short by Criminal Recklessness
An unspeakable tragedy has rocked Texas and the U.S. military community after 18-year-old Ava Moore, a newly appointed cadet candidate at the U.S. Air Force Academy, was killed in a jet ski hit-and-run—allegedly by two illegal immigrants from Venezuela.
Moore, who had just graduated from the Academy’s prestigious preparatory school in Colorado Springs on May 19, was kayaking Sunday when she was struck and killed by a jet ski operated by 21-year-old Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez, who then fled the scene in a vehicle driven by 21-year-old Maikel Coello Perozo, also in the U.S. illegally.
Hit-and-Run Carnage: What We Know
According to Texas authorities, after striking Ava Moore, the suspects attempted to escape by car and ended up crashing into another vehicle. Both were arrested and are now in custody, facing multiple charges.
The suspects reportedly entered the country illegally—Gonzalez Gonzalez in 2023 and Coello Perozo in 2024.
Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin released their mugshots and additional case details. A press conference is scheduled with Texas Game Wardens, Grapevine Police Department, and Homeland Security Investigations to provide further updates.
Ava Moore: A Rising Star, Taken Too Soon
Ava had just completed 10 grueling months at the U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School and was set to enter the Academy’s Class of 2029 this June.
Lt. Gen. Tony Bauernfeind, Superintendent of the Academy, mourned the loss of Moore in a heartfelt statement:
“We lost an exemplary teammate this weekend… Ava’s constant happiness and attitude helped her squadron get through the challenges of the Prep School… her drive to excel was on display as she sought out leadership positions to improve herself and her team.”
Her death not only robs the nation of a future military leader, but also ignites renewed national outrage over the consequences of the Biden administration’s border policies.
Illegal Immigration, Tragedy, and National Security
This incident highlights yet again the urgent public safety concerns tied to unchecked illegal immigration. These individuals were not only in the country unlawfully, but one is now accused of committing vehicular manslaughter and attempting to evade justice.
Families across America will look at the case of Ava Moore and demand answers—why was she not protected? How many more lives must be lost before common-sense immigration enforcement is restored?
