President Trump unloaded on an NBC reporter Friday after she attempted to challenge his claims that Thanksgiving dinner this year will be significantly cheaper than last year.
The White House has touted declines in prices for traditional holiday staples — with rolls down 22%, frozen vegetables down 15%, and turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberries, and pies also costing less. Retailers like Walmart are offering turkeys at $0.97 per pound — the lowest price since 2019.
Despite this, an NBC reporter tried to argue that Thanksgiving may cost less only because “the meal contains less,” prompting Trump to immediately fire back:
“Fake news. NBC, you’re fake news. NBC’s gone down the tubes along with most of the rest of them.”
The reporter continued, asking why Americans still felt economic pressure, accusing Trump of misstating the state of the economy.
Trump didn’t hold back:
“They feel much better about our country right now… We set a record on jobs.
We have more investment than any country in history — over $18 trillion…
Walmart just announced Thanksgiving was 25% more expensive under Biden.”
He slammed Democrats for manipulating public perception:
“The Democrats are good at a few things: cheating on elections and conning people with facts that aren’t true. This year will be cheaper to have Thanksgiving than a year ago under Sleepy Joe Biden.”
The fiery exchange took place during a press conference with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, where Trump also highlighted record investment, job growth, and American economic dominance.
