White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller Reacts to Viral Footage of Columbia Protester ‘Self-Deporting’ to Canada

A Columbia University student protester just faced the reality that actions have consequences.

Footage obtained by Fox News’ Griff Jenkins shows Ranjani Srinivasan, an Indian national and Columbia student, using the CBP Home App to voluntarily depart for Canada after her F-1 visa was revoked due to participation in extremist protests on campus.

This marks a significant escalation in the crackdown on foreign nationals exploiting the U.S. student visa system while engaging in pro-Hamas demonstrations.

Beyond border security, this serves as a broader message: if you abuse the privilege of studying in the U.S. while promoting radical ideologies, you will face the consequences.

EXCLUSIVE: Fox News obtains video of Columbia protester Ranjani Srinivasan, an Indian national, self-deporting to Canada using the CBP Go App. She can be seen wearing a black hoodie.

DHS sources confirm her F-1 visa has been revoked.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem issued a strong statement emphasizing that visa holders who engage in anti-American protests have no right to remain in the country.

“It is a privilege to be granted a visa to live and study in the United States. If you advocate for violence and terrorism, that privilege should be revoked. I’m glad to see one of the Columbia University agitators use the CBP Home app to self-deport,” Noem stated.

But the removals don’t stop there. DHS sources also confirmed that another Columbia protester, Legaa Kordia, a student from the West Bank, was arrested by ICE agents on March 13 for immigration violations tied to his student visa.

Kordia had been previously arrested in April 2024 for participating in pro-Hamas protests at Columbia. This time, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) officers in Newark took him into custody.

These enforcement actions come after President Donald Trump signed an executive order in January 2025 targeting antisemitism, which includes provisions to remove non-citizen students involved in pro-Palestinian demonstrations.

Under this directive, federal agencies are using existing legal tools to prosecute, deport, or hold accountable individuals who engage in antisemitic harassment or incite violence.

One of the most high-profile cases under this order is that of Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian activist and legal permanent resident who was arrested for his association with Hamas, a designated terrorist organization, following his involvement in campus protests at Columbia University.

With the administration taking a hard stance on foreign nationals who engage in extremist demonstrations, it’s becoming clear—those who undermine American values while on a visa will face swift consequences.
